Continuous blood pressure monitoring with the Hilo-Band gives you the control you need to improve your health. The desired permanent reduction in blood pressure is often accompanied by the administration of medication. In this phase, it is important to monitor blood pressure closely, which brings us to the advantages of the Hilo-Band: the measuring device is extremely light at just 6 grams and can be attached to the wrist with a wristband for permanent measurement. This allows the blood pressure to be measured unnoticed - up to 25 times a day and even at night. The measured values are transferred to the Hilo app via Bluetooth and can be evaluated in various levels of detail via a smartphone and shared with doctors or friends if required. By assigning it to personal experience situations (stress, relaxation, work, vacation, sleep), you can assess and improve the success of the measures taken and keep control over maintaining the ideal range of your blood pressure in the future - for long-lasting health.

Safety and accuracy through patented procedure and clinical studies

The Hilo Band is a CE-marked Class IIa medical device that has undergone extensive and thorough clinical validation. It therefore differs significantly in terms of accuracy and informative value from simple portable consumer devices. The technology of the Hilo Band was developed by the Swiss company Aktiia and is based on 20 years of research and over 100,000 users.

The Hilo Band uses PPG (photoplethysmography) technology to capture optical data on the wrist. The PPG data is transmitted via the Hilo app to a secure cloud server where the blood pressure is calculated by Hilo's algorithms using advanced processing of the optical data. The Hilo Band wristband detects whether the user is moving before a PPG measurement is initiated and only provides the blood pressure measurement when the user is still. This product is licensed by patents owned by CSEM SA, Switzerland.

When the bracelet is worn around the clock, the readings are sent to the Hilo app installed on the smartphone. This gives you a comprehensive overview of your blood pressure during the day and at night.

During the development of the technology used in the Hilo Band, six clinical studies were conducted which showed that the accuracy of the device is comparable to that of a regular cuff that you put on your upper arm. In particular, the medical device was tested on patients from the general population in accordance with the international standard ISO-80601-2.

Hilo App and Hilo membership (optional)

The Hilo App synchronizes with the Hilo Band via Bluetooth and provides you with an overview of your blood pressure measurements around the clock. So you can proactively manage your health.

The app can be downloaded free of charge from the App Store (for iOS) or Google Play (for Android). After the initial entry of the personal basic data, the Hilo measuring device is calibrated for the first time using the Bluetooth upper arm cuff supplied. This calibration process, which takes into account physical differences (arm length, distance from wrist to heart, etc.) in future measurements, is subsequently required once a month. Otherwise, the Hilo Band measures without an upper arm cuff.

• Data security: Hilo uses 256-bit encryption - Advanced Encryption Standard (AES-256) - and Transport Layer Security (TLS) for communication between the Hilo Band and mobile applications.
